Syrinx Journey Day 184: Handel and “Syrinx”

Yesterday was Handel’s birthday, but I didn’t get to celebrate this magnificent composer until today. As far as I am concerned, every day is perfect for celebrating Handel, Debussy, and all of my favorite composers!

After playing the opening of “Lascia ch’io pianga” from Rinaldo, I waited a moment thinking the tritone between the last note and the first note of Syrinx might be jarring. I don’t think it was at all because the different pieces were so clearly delineated. It is interesting pairing Syrinx with many other pieces in the course of Syrinx Journey as the different styles seem to shed light on each other.
