Syrinx Journey Day 57: “Syrinx” with Gabriel Globus-Hoenich, Percussion Improvisation

After rehearsal today, Gabe and I played Syrinx. With the instruments he is using for our Dolce Suono Ensemble’s “Debussy and Jazz” concert tomorrow, he evoked water and reed sounds. The concept is a sonic depiction of the panpipes and the river in the story of Pan and Syrinx. The wood and the organ pipes at Trinity Center for Urban Life in Philadelphia remind us of the reeds and pipes.
