This is from my recital this afternoon at the University of Delaware. My program, with pianist Charles Abramovic, including sonatas by Leo Smit and Paul Hindemith, Doppler’s Fantaisie Pastorale Hongroise, Piazzolla’s Étude tanguistique #3, a set of works in an Eastern European folk and gypsy vein – Michael Djupstrom’s Sejdefu Majka Budase, a work based on a Balkan folk song Charlie and I recorded on our “Odyssey” CD, Dvorak’s Songs my Mother Taught Me, and Monti’s Czardas – and naturally Debussy’s Syrinx.
Flute professor Eileen Grycky invited me to teach a masterclass for her flute studio, which took place after the recital. I enjoyed working with her talented and well-prepared students. The events took place in lovely Gore Recital Hall.
