Syrinx Journey in the Press

I was recently interviewed by Dan Armonaitis, music critic in Spartanburg Herald-Journal, who writes a blog called Sound Observations. We spoke on the phone last season when he wrote a preview article about my solo performance with the Spartanburg Philharmonic and conductor Sarah Ioannides. In his music journalism, Dan covers a diverse range classical and popular styles and he is a very thoughtful and enjoyable person to speak with. I was delighted when he took an interest in my Syrinx Journey project. The result is his piece “How a Spartanburg Philharmonic guest soloist inspired me to get serious about New Year’s resolutions.”

Mary Sydnor, a columnist for Drexel University’s online journal The Smart Set, called me to do an interview for her article on Debussy in honor of his 150th anniversary. I was very happy to speak with her about the composer and his world, especially while steeped in this topic throughout the season, with my Dolce Suono Ensemble’s season-long celebration of Debussy along with my Syrinx Journey. I enjoyed a very interesting conversation with Mary as she was writing her article The Difficulty of Debussy.
