Mimi’s recording “Freedom” with Charles Abramovic, piano and premieres by Mieczyslaw Weinberg, David Finko, and Richard Danielpour (with Yumi Kendall, cello, in the Danielpour) continues to receive fantastic reviews.

Among the recent accolades for the album and Dolce Suono Ensemble:

  • Interview and Review of “Freedom” and Dolce Suono Ensemble in the Huffington Post by Lew Whittington

Stillman and Abramovic, the core players of DSE, have been performing together for 14 years, their stellar artistic clarity and chemistry is palpable onstage and is vividly captured on their recent recording “Freedom” (recorded in Gould Hall) a collection of flute and piano pieces.”

Bonus “Syrinx” #8 – Backstage at the Kimmel Center

I recorded Syrinx in my dressing room at the Kimmel Center in between giving masterclasses as Yamaha Flute Clinician at the Youth Education in the Arts band festival in May. It was fun working with lots of talented high school musicians. Visit my Facebook page to see photos from this event!

Syrinx Journey Days 321 and 322: “Syrinx” for Bastille Day

In honor of Bastille Day, two renditions of Syrinx. The first outside the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia. as I played, I contemplated The Burghers of Calais. My thoughts also turned today to Gabriel Fauré, who penned his lovely Morceau de concours for flute and piano on Bastille Day in 1898.

Syrinx Journey Day 203: “Syrinx” at Music for All National Festival

I had a wonderful time as Yamaha masterclass clinician at the Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis the past few days. It is an honor to represent my instrument at this event which brings together the top high school bands and orchestras in America. I taught four masterclasses – three for high school and one for middle school flutists – for around 220 flutists in total. The kids are talented and dedicated, and a great pleasure to get to know. Here is a Syrinx I performed at one of my masterclasses.

Music for All National Festival

I am excited to be going to Indianapolis tomorrow to serve as Yamaha flute clinician at the Music for All National Festival. I will be teaching masterclasses for middle and high school flutists from throughout the US who were selected to attend the festival along with their bands and orchestras. I am honored to work with these talented young musicians, to meet their devoted ensemble directors and instructors, and to participate along with a team of wonderful Yamaha artists in each instrument.
